Scholar Energy - Eugenio Parigi
A Day in the Life of a PhD Student in Sustainability Economics
Eugenio Parigi is a PhD student at CREST and affiliated with École polytechnique. His research explores the intersection of sustainability, economics, and finance through two complementary projects.
Finance and Service Quality
His first project examines the impact of private equity ownership in the childcare sector. The goal is to determine whether these financial actors improve service quality or primarily focus on profit maximization, and to assess their broader effects on welfare and sector performance.
The Emergence of Green Technologies
His second project focuses on sustainable innovation. Eugenio investigates how firms begin developing clean technologies: by acquiring companies that already possess green expertise or by building these capabilities internally. This research helps identify the mechanisms that drive the transition toward a greener economy.
A Data-Driven Approach
His work relies heavily on economic data analysis. By studying large datasets and descriptive statistics, he uncovers patterns and behaviours that shape the development of sustainable finance and green innovation.
