Coriolis Seminar - Creating from scratch critical R&D competences in France in offshore wind energy

We will start with an overview of the context of industrial wind turbine manufacturer’s context in the last 10 years and ahead including international competitor’s landscape, last released multi MW products and general challenges and technical opportunities.
We will first review the history of the R&D center of Siemens Gamesa in France created in 2015 initially with local commitment requirements through its key critical milestones along its integration into various industrial groups (AREVA, Gamesa, Siemens Gamesa)
Then we will focus on the R&D activities that the center is focusing on and give the general technical challenges and unique ways of handling them that have been developed through examples of typical technical deep dives on topics such as wakes inside and between offshore wind farms, aeroelastic stability of large blades and wind field reconstructions along unique ways of using large scale offshore fleet databases
