Coriolis Seminar - Clean energy technologies in a changing energy landscape

06 oct. 2022
by Timur Gül, head of Energy Technology Policy, International Energy Agency

Worldwide urgent action is needed to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate the consequences of climate change. A circular economy of Photovoltaics is decisive to render PV sustainable and to re-capture the PV value chain. A truly green PV industry shall have lowest possible production and end-of-life waste, energy consumption, and CO2 emission, as well as usage of natural resources. The seminar will address the following challenges and explore some possible solutions:
1. Importance in the high quality and high purity of recycled raw materials from PV industry;
2. Reintegration potential of recycled raw materials back to different industries;
3. Life cycle analysis of recycled raw materials;
4. Economic consideration for PV recycling activities.
Successful deployment of PV recycling activities will depend strongly on the efficiency and quality of technology development and their industrialization, thus joint force will play a central role in the realization of this circular economy.
